Broncos in an Absolute Thriller....but at a Huge Cost
The Brisbane Broncos snuck home in Golden Point on a wobbly old Darren Lockyer field to eliminate the defending Premiers St George Illawarra 13-12. The Broncos were outstanding tonight and absolutely dominated in attack, field position and time with the ball. Yet somehow, the men with the Red V, kept turning up to stop the attack in their tracks. The Dragons didn't foray into the attacking zone in to many attempts, but when they did, the Broncos fans held their breath. Another motza crowd of over 48,000 in Brisbane, saw yet another classic Brisbane victory.
The only downside, is the damage inflcited on Darren Lockyer's left side of his face after it felt the full force of Gerard Beale's knee in a fantastic marking effort from the young full-back. It remains to be seen exactly what damage has been done, but from that event, Lockyer was gingerly touching the cheek and his right side face didn't look great either. Bravely, he stayed on and fittingly kicked the winning field goal. It just remains to be seen, whether we see him again!
