You Just need One Point

What an emotional night for Dragons fans. Tears flowed freely from Snowy and my face as the Dragons clinched their first Grand Final visit since 1999, with a gripping 13-12 victory over a gallant Tigers side. In the end, a Jamie Soward field goal was the only difference between the sides, as the Tigers installed an up and in defence that thwarted the Dragons left and right shifts, and kept them impotent for much of the game.

The first half will be remembered for the Tigers scoring first and for the 12-6 lead they enjoyed at half-time. The second half will be remembered for the way the Dragons asserted dominance in the middle of the ruck and slowly took the control away from the Tigers defence and their dangermen, Robert Lui and Benji Marshall. Today, Darius Boyd and Jason Nightingale were the heroes for the Dragons, while Jeremy Smith and Neville Costigan were the pick of the forwards.

The first half, while dominated by the Tigers, also showed some absolute jokes of decisions by the match officials. Two poor decisions, ensured the Tigers went length of field for the second try. Firstly, Brett Morris was pinged for not being straight at marker, when he was, and then Beau Scott pinged for tackling Lui after passing, when the young halfback had been playing cat and mouse all day. Gave the Tigers the momentum to charge downfield and score to take the 12-6. Then to top it off, the touchie called a Dragons forward pass, which was an absolute joke. Please answer me, WHY do the refs listen to the Touch Judges???? The refs are supposed to be the sole judge. Why do they listen to these wankers.
