SEPTEMBER 24th- MOJO moved to 4-1 on the season with a dominating 38-0 win over Lubbock Monterey. After a scoreless first quarter, the Panthers got things going early in the second when DeAnthony Fay found the endzone from three yards out. Greg George made it 14-0 on the next possession with an eight yard TD run. Fay hit paydirt again right before the break, and Permian took a 21-0 lead into the lockerroom.
The second half was more of the same for MOJO. Landry Serrano scrambled for 33 yards, then passed to Van Powell for a 36 yard catch and run touchdown. Eric Diaz hit a 23 yard field goal to make it 31-0. The defense got into the act on the next Monterey possession, as Barrett Brown stepped in front of a Plainsman pass and took it to the house. Diaz tacked on the extra point to make it 38-0. The scoring ended there as MOJO substituted liberally the rest of the game.
JV REPORT- Kris Miller scored two touchdowns as the JV Black won a weather-shortened 14-0 game over Monterey Red. JV White fell to Monterey Blue 14-12.
NEXT UP- Permian will spend their open date preparing for the district slate. The Panthers host Midland High Friday, October 8th at Ratliff Stadium.
