Permian began the 2010 seaon on the wrong side of the ledger with a 6-0 loss to Smithson Valley.  Defensively the Panthers looked like a team that could play deep into the postseason. Unfortunately, the MOJO offense did not. Promising drives were stalled by untimely penalties and blown assignments. Credit a blitzing Smithson Valley defense for making plays as well. A scoreless game was finally broke open in the third quarter when Ranger's runningback Lawrence Mattison broke free for a 20 yard touchdown run. The extra point was no good, but it would be all the points Smithson Valley would need.
