Cowboys Strike Form over Queensland Rival

Despite giving up the first try, the North Queensland Cowboys showed some purple patches of form in defeating their Queensland Rivals, the Gold Coast Titans. The Cowboys unearthed some exciting new talent in Ray Thompson, while Willie Tonga scored a hatrick of tries. Willie Mason also sported his best game for the club, especially in defence.

The Cowboys won comprehensively 32-18 in a dominant performance, with their inspirational captain Jonathon Thurston, again leading from the front. Young Shannon Gallant also played a blinder from the back and looks to be settling down in Townsville.

For the Gold Coast, they just dropped too much ball and this season seems to be season from hell for Greg Bird who is playing poorly and without impact. It seemed that whenever the Titans scored, or got back in range, a simple error on an early tackle brought them unstuck. Joseph Tomane, the recipient of many wraps this season, will bear many critics this week, especially with his reading of defence.

Next week, the Cowboys take on the Wests Tigers in Townsville, while the Titans need to front up against the undefeated Storm.
