The Souths Sydney Rabbitohs, the pride of the league, have won their first game for season 2010 with a 30-8 victory over the, still winless Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. The Sharks were the surprise first scorers with a try to Luke Covell, but the Rabbitohs struck back to take the lead just three minutes later.
Sharks will be looking for Tim Smith to provide some spark to the side, but for this Monday night it was all Souths, leading 18-4 at half-time. The second half denigrated into a very sloppy affair, with poor quality of football not worthy of the NRL. Young Sharks Fullback, Albert Kelly had a night to forget as he dropped a number of bombs which gifted Souths field position and possession.
For the Sharks, it was their 13th straight loss and one really must wonder, when does the pressure come onto coach Ricky Stuart. Given major plaudits for holding the club together from one crisis to another in 2009, he must get this Sharks side to aim up, otherwise they will be calling off betting for the wooden spoon.
